I only have 30 days from the seller.so far so good at the moment.I could get an another one at full price at BH or from another vendor (Yongnuo USA site) and trying my luck to get a refund from this one. Keep an eye on it through the warranty period and return it if it happens again. The capacitor probably just needed to be refreshed. You know, is a pain in the butt to return things on ebay.and getting refund from the sellers.

Why the flash tube was flickering earlier? Should I take my chance and to keep this unit? I only paid $77 for it after the unit was discounted by the Ebay promotion of $15 off when you spent over $75. At one point, I even overheated the flash and causing the overheating warning to pop up. I fired about 400 test shots single burst to continuous bursts from flash power 1/2 to 1/4. Then, I left the flash alone for couple of hours and I tried to test it again only about an hour ago. I thought I needed to return it to the seller on ebay. Like the tube wasn't getting enough charge to it. The flash would not fire but the flash tube would flicker. It didn't matter what I did with it, either firing on the camera hot shoe or remotely triggering. When I pressed the test button, the flash tube would just flicker. After testing couple of dozen shots, the flash stopped firing. For some strange reason, the flash was not working correctly the first hour I had it. That's the good news since I didn't need to buy some expensive power wizard flextt5 triggers. Of course, if it just needs to be a close-enough overlay on something else, then she doesn't need to do much in the way of accurate geospatial math and can probably manually line up the edges of the merged photo using something like Google Maps to get the boundary coordinates.Įxplain to me why this is happening? In my quest to achieve higher flash sync speed, not talking about HSS or Nikon Auto FP, I finally realized that the Yongnuo 622n tx transmitter, combined with the Yongnuo 685 ex for Nikon, can deliver full flash power sync speed above 1/1000s without shutter clipping. Unless she has a landmark or two in each frame, knowing exact GPS (including height) for the camera taking each photo won't necessarily mean you can get the 100% accurate GPS of the center/edges of the image. I think her real problem with come into having accurate angle capture information.

The 175 cruising speed is ~139 MPH, and so you might even need sub-second resolution on both capture time and GPS update information. And frankly, even at 1 second resolution there will likely be an issue. I'd invest in a good GPS receiver with logging.

And I'm not sure the GPS will update fast enough for a moving plane, those receivers aren't intended to be moving very fast AFAIK. Otherwise ON1 Photo RAW is my other option from Lightroom.I'd also look into a lens (or body) with image stabilization (I think Nikon calls it VR, vibration reduction?), which with a small plane I imagine will be more of an issue.

So I might continue to upgrade that product if it stay in sync with the editing features of the standalone. So that leaves the asset management to Lightroom in my case. The Plugin product, Luminar Flex, currently does everything the standalone does, but no digital asset management piece. However that struck me as a fatal flaw if you can't restore a drive and retain edits. Since I had only done a little bit of work in Luminar DAM, I didn't lose much and it was duplicated in Lightroom anyway. They have no ability at this time to re-associate the images to the database/catalog. Which changes when you swap drives or restore a system.

Apparently they don't use the volume name/drive letter in the database, but rather the volume serial number. I restored my drive using Time Machine and Lightroom was fine.Luminar lost the references to all the files.

I had been waiting for the digital asset management feature and when it finally came out it was okay.until I got a new macbook. I will still use the plugin product that they spun off though. I'm done with the standalone version of Luminar.
